French superstar Kylian Mbappe is the man of the hour at Real Madrid right now but for all the wrong reasons. After watching PSG nip at their heels by becoming back to back Champions League winners for the first time since Real last did it with Cristiano Ronaldo in tow, Madridistas are increasingly pointing to Mbappe as the problem behind PSG's prior struggles and now Real's own ability to get back to the promised land of the Champions League Final.

Mbappe's outburst against Alvaro Arbeloa after the win over Real Oviedo near the end of the La Liga campaign shocked many of the Madridistas who were previously defending the star forward, and with his poor displays recently since returning from injury, the microscope is now fully on the 2018 World Cup winner.

Speaking at a press conference in the lead up to his election against Enrique Riquelme, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was asked the tough question about Kylian Mbappe and if he should have handled the end of the season better.

Florentino Perez won't throw his players under the bus

While Florentino defended Mbappe, which may not be the answer Real Madrid fans were hoping for in the interest of accountability, he also dodged the question a bit. He said, via the Madrid Zone, "Do I think Mbappé should've handled the end of his season better? Mbappé has been playing in a position different from the one he's been playing at PSG. That's thrown him off a bit. We're going to correct all the things we think we haven't done well. We have very good players, and more will come. That's it. We shouldn't blame the coaches or the players."

Now, Florentino Perez has been saying that an awful lot about how Real Madrid fans and journalists should not be blaming the players, but fans then have to ask him, who should they be blaming instead? Perez, for example, also says not to blame the coaches. But he has fired three coaches in the span of a year now, including a coach who won them three Champions Leagues.

So then is Florentino to blame? He is the one who brought in those coaches after firing Carlo Ancelotti, and he is the one who signed Kylian Mbappe to huge wages despite having a great attack that won the Champions League and only needing defenders as per Carlo's request. It's an answer from the president that will leave Madridistas unsatisfied and no less perturbed with a certain striker.
