The U19 and U21 Euros are underway, and Real Madrid are keeping a close watch on both competitions.
Madrid's recent fixation on young talent is no secret, and these European tournaments could very well be a goldmine for Los Blancos to strike big.
They are building a team for the next decade, and those who make a mark at these competitions could easily become prime targets going forward.
They are making headlines today and may go on to make history at Real Madrid.
According to Marca, Los Blancos are closely monitoring four breakout names from the youth Euros: Nick Woltemade, Castello Lukeba, Cristhian Mosquera, and Kees Smit.
Real Madrid have their eyes on the best of Europe
Tacticians hail Nick Woltemade as a technical powerhouse. The striker represents Germany U21 and stands at a towering 198 cm. That height gives him a massive edge in aerial duels and goal scoring. According to Sofascore, in just four Euro games, Woltemade has already bagged 6 goals and provided 3 assists.
These numbers are phenomenal for the 23-year-old. The Stuttgart forward is steadily building his name and could become the next big thing in world football. If he stays consistent, Real Madrid should give serious thought to this one. From where I see it, Woltemade is something very close to Erling Haaland in terms of stature and technical profile.
The second name is Castello Lukeba, centre-back for RB Leipzig and France U21. Lukeba is a dependable and positionally sharp defender. While his numbers remain standard, his on-field presence stands out. With more consistency and proper integration, he could be a top defensive option for Xabi Alonso.
Then there is Cristhian Mosquera, the homegrown Valencia centre-back. His case is particularly interesting. Real Madrid, under a special directive from Florentino Perez, are reportedly focusing on signing more Spanish players to restore their dominance in the national setup.
Mosquera has only one year left on his contract with Valencia, and signing him now could give Madrid three youthful Spanish centre-backs with potential national team futures.
Lastly, Kees Smit, the 19-year-old from AZ Alkmaar, is an exciting talent. Playing for Netherlands U21, he has impressed with his technical understanding and smart decision-making. He is clever, impactful, and has even troubled Real Madrid in the past. It would be quite intriguing if Madrid end up pursuing him.
