Real Madrid have used the free agent market in recent years to pounce for some of the most highly-regarded talent in European football. Trent Alexander-Arnold was signed on a free transfer last summer after the English right-back's contract with Liverpool expired.
Kylian Mbappe is the biggest name to move as a free agent after he arrived in the summer of 2024 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Most players dream of representing Los Blancos and that makes pulling off such signings that much more easier for Florentino Perez and his board.
Madrid could be at it again this summer given there are some ridiculously talented European stars entering the final months of their contracts. One of those is a Liverpool defender who has long been on the club's radar.
Ibrahima Konate - Liverpool
There remains huge uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate's future at Liverpool with the French center-back's current contract expiring in June. He has returned to form in recent weeks after a dissapointing spell this season.
Konate is in talks with the Reds over a new deal but he has yet to put pen to paper. Los Blancos were monitoring the situation but informed the Merseysiders they didn't intend to move for the 26-year-old.
That stance might change if Konate does leave Anfield and becomes available to sign for free. He undoubtedly has the ability to shine for Los Merengues and reports claim the club have weighed up offering him a contract.
Bernardo Silva - Manchester City
Another Premier League star who is set to become a free agent is Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese attacker remains one of the most highly-admired playmakers in England.
Silva has been a mainstay in Pep Guardiola's Manchester City for many years. This season he has posted two goals and five assists in 35 games across competitions.
Madrid are on the lookout for more creativity and perhaps turning to the 31-year-old alongside a young midfielder could be the solution. He has incredible experience and would help the younger stars at the Bernabeu.

Leon Goretzka - Bayern Munich
If Madrid want to give Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga competition then look no further than Leon Goretzka. The Bayern Munich man's best days might be behind him but he is still a great asset who has won it all at the Allianz Arena.
Goretzka is expected to leave Bayern this summer amid the rise of Aleksandar Pavlovic, who has also been linked with Los Blancos. The 31-year-old seems to be attracting interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
If the German isn't asking for too much money then he could be an excellent market opportunity. While not a priority, he certainly comes with a huge reputation and plenty of experience.
Oscar Mingueza - Celta Vigo
A new right-back could be on Madrid's agenda this summer amid uncertainty over Dani Carvajal's future. The veteran Spaniard isn't recieving desired game time and is behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the pecking order.
Defensa Central reports that Perez has already been offered the chance to sign Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza. The 26-year-old's contract, like Carvajal, is up in June and he'd be an easy pickup on relatively low wages.
Madrid are thought to see Mingueza as a real option at right-back and that might mean rotating with Alexander-Arnold. He might have a point to prove having spent a period at El Clasico rivals Barcelona.
