Real Madrid superstar striker Kylian Mbappe may have scored the most goals in La Liga, but for Madridistas, his individual accomplishments are meanginless. And with a shots to goals ratio worse than that of Mariano Diaz or Luka Jovic, those around Madrid are becoming increasingly wise to the fact that Mbappe's goals are the product of an incredible supporting cast that is serving him more goals than he is getting - a supporting cast that won the Champions League without him and should actually be the main cast.

Mbappe has watched as Luis Enrique did what he promised he would do without the Frenchman, hoisting now back to back Champions League titles for PSG, whereas Real Madrid have become the disappointing albatross that PSG were before the now 27 year old's ballyhooed arrival to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2024.

A low point for Real Madrid and the moment when fans realized Mbappe was an even bigger problem than they thought came after a win over Real Oviedo when Gonzalo Garcia started, was Man of the Match, and then saw how Mbappe held an impromptu press conference and threw a tantrum to make everything about himself.

Kylian Mbappe owes Real Madrid fans

Well, Real Madrid management did actually get involved to try and talk some sense into Kylian Mbappe. According to a report from Jose Felix Diaz of Diario AS, via Madrid Xtra, the club actually spoke directly to the 2018 World Cup winner before the Matchday 38 clash with Athletic Club.

Real Madrid reportedly told Mbappe that he is important to the present and future of the team, but they also told him that they needed him to reflect on his actions. They even invoked something that Cristiano Ronaldo, his idol, never needed to be reminded of and was something of a guiding principle that led to his great team success in Madrid. Real told Mbappe that he has a weight of responsibility to the fans and the teammates and that he owes them a debt.

Now, that is a powerful way of framing things to Mbappe, and if he cannot respond to that reminder after laughing at the fans booing him and playing genuinely horribly over the last couple of months with a bad attitude and lazy all around play on the pitch, then Real Madrid may have to admit that he is a lost clause. No player will be under more pressure in the 2026/27 season.
