A few years ago, Real Madrid were interested in signing Julian Alvarez from River Plate after the young Argentinian striker showed a clinical eye for goal that bested even those of strikers a decade older than him. But just like Erling Haaland, Alvarez went to Manchester City while Real Madrid were too busy in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

Alvarez, after winning the treble with the Citizens, has since landed with La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid, where he has continued to enhance his reputation as one of the best goal scorers and all around forwards in world football.

Real Madrid have mostly been linked to Michael Olise as a dream signing to complete an attacking trident with Vinicius Junior and Mbappe, but Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is finding that Bayern Munich are tough nuts to crack. Now, there are many reporters around world football indicating that Alvarez is a strong alternative to the Frenchman.

Julian Alvarez is a real possibility for Real Madrid

And despite Real's intense rivalry with Atleti, Julian Alvarez may actually be much easier for the Merengues to acquire this summer transfer window, given the player has been linked wtih a move out as early as a year ago with how interested another La Liga rival, Barcelona, are in signing him to be the heir to Robert Lewandowski.

According to a report from Sky Sports Germany, via the Madrid Zone, not only have Real Madrid asked Atletico Madrid about Alvarez and rate him highly as a player, but the Rojilblancos would also be open to selling the Argentinian World Cup winner to their crosstown rivals. If an offer of 150 million euros comes down the pipe line, Atletico would be open to selling the 26 year old goal scorer.

Alvarez is only just entering his prime, and players of his caliber rarely ever make the switch from Atletico to Real Madrid. But if Real are willing to spend the 150 million euros Florentino Perez had already said he would be spending on a Galactico, which many assumed would be Michael Olise, then this crazy signing could actually come true.

It is wild to think that Atletico Madrid would actually sell a player of his caliber to Real Madrid, but, hey, mony talks, and Atleti want more money. They may also, in a way, not see Real Madrid as their biggest competition right now, given how far off the Rojiblancos are from being true Champions League contenders. Or they may think they can put that money to better use.
