Real Madrid have been drawing up a shopping list of midfield targets ahead of the summer transfer window as they continue their search for their perfect Toni Kroos replacement. Unfortunately for Real Madrid a number of their targets are strongly tied down to their clubs, however, one of their top targets could be closer to leaving his club than many may think.

As being reported by Gaston Edul on X, there are chances that Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez leaves the Premier League club in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid being one of the strongest linked landing spots for the Argentine.

Enzo could go

Real Madrid have been linked with the world class midfielder on a number of occasions over the years but no move has ever been close to materializing, but that could quickly change by the time the summer transfer window rolls around.

The 25-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge for €120 following a standout 2022 FIFA World Cup and has been one of the best and most consistent performers for Chelsea during years of inconsistency as a team. Enzo is one of the first names on the team sheet every week and has managed to grab 12 goals and six assists across all competitions this season, proving to be one of Liam Rosenior's most important players.

However despite his importance, Enzo could still be on the move in the summer, with the Bernabeu being the favored destination for the midfielder. Real have long held an interest in the midfielder and now could be the chance to finally make a move become reality. Many at the club view the Argentine as the perfect fix for trying to replace the retired Toni Kroos. The midfielder brings an incredible passing range, an ability to control the tempo that is second to none, a strong defensive work rate, and a South American intensity that would bring another layer to the Real Madrid midfield.

Now exactly how much a move for the midfielder would cost remains unknown but it would surely be close to or more than the €120 million Chelsea paid back in 2022. It had been reported earlier that Chelsea could look for players in return for Enzo with the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Vinicus Jr being among the players Chelsea are admirers of. Los Blancos will surely not want to part ways with any of those players to land Enzo, so whether the club likes it or not, they'll have to open up their checkbook all the way if the hope to finally sign the World Cup winner in the summer.
