In recent years we've seen Real Madrid plan for their long-term future by bringing in young players as they plan for the departures of the older veteran players. We saw it with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal, Dean Huijsen and David Alaba, and we saw the club bring in Arda Guler to replace Luka Modric. Real Madrid have now started to plan for the eventual departure of Thibaut Courtois, and they have added a name to their list that Real Madrid fans will be all too familiar with.
As being reported by MadridXtra on X, Real Madrid have added Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin to their list of potential Courtois replacements as they begin to plan for life after the Belgian keeper to ensure future success. Jose Mourinho worked with the Ukrainian during his time at Benfica and has told the club he would be interested in reuniting with the player at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid fans will surely be familiar with Trubin as he was the player who scored the fourth goal in Real Madrid's 4-2 loss to Benfica in the Champions League back in January securing the Portuguese clubs place in the Champions League knockout stage. Real Madrid went on to knock Benfica out of the Champions League in the next round, but scoring a goal against Real Madrid as a goalkeeper is the moment that put Trubin on the map.
Despite still being only 34-years-old, Courtois isn't getting any younger and with some of the injury concerns starting to catch up with the Belgian it's smart for Real Madrid to begin to plan for what life after Courtois' time at the Bernabeu eventually comes to an end, and the club could turn to Trubin to be the next keeper to carry on the impressive legacy left by Iker Casillas, Kaylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois.
Real Madrid have also been linked with a potential move for Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen following his impressive Premier League season and World Cup performance but who Los Blancos will end up signing remains unknow at this time.
Trubin is only 24-years-old and has a value of around €25 million so he could end up being a strong candidate that many wouldn't have initially had on their list however there are no doubt better options available. Porto goalkeepr Diogo Costa could be on the market and while he would cost around double Trubin his play has shown he would be almost a 1-1 replacement for Courtois and would secure the backline for Real Madrid for years to come.
