When Toni Kroos announced his retirement back in May, many expected his absence in the midfield to be felt, but his absence has been felt more than many thought.
Without the German midfielder, Real Madrid have struggled to control the tempo during games leaving them unorganised and vulnerable at times.
Many were expecting players like Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni to take on the roll left by Kroos, however due to the injury crisis Carlo Ancelotti has had to deploy those players in different positions, which leaves the gap in midfield even bigger.
The Toni Kroos-less midfield has proved to be a problem for Real Madrid since the start of the season, and if the club to get back to being the team to beat in Europe they have to look to strengthen their squad.
And it seems Real Madrid are eyeing a top midfielder from Kylian Mbappe's former team.
Real Madrid interested in PSG midfielder to strengthen their midfield
As being reported by AS, Real Madrid are showing interest in PSG midfielder Vitinha as they look to strengthen their midfield with a midfielder with a similar profile to the recently retired Toni Kroos, who's absence can be felt throughout the team.
Real Madrid are looking to sign a player with good footwork and vision, who is capable of organising the team’s play, similar to what Toni Kroos represented. And that is where Vitinha comes into the picture.
Vitinha has been at PSG since the 2022 season and after a tough first season at the club, he has become one of the most important players in Luis Enrique's squad. The Portuguese midfielder recently signed a new long-term deal with the French club so it seems unlikely they would look to sell him. Real madrid already have Dani Ceballos at the club, who fits a similar profile to Vitinha.
