Even though Real Madrid finally secured the signing of Kylian Mbappe this summer, Real Madrid are still in search of a natural number nine as a long term replacement for Karim Benzema. Mbappe, who is naturally a left-winger is struggling to find his footing playing through the middle of a front three, which could cause the club to look to recruit a natural striker.

Last season, Real Madrid could rely on Joselu as a natural striker to come in and get crucial goals when needed. However, with Joselu departing for Qatar in the summer, the club are desperately lacking a goal poaching striker.

Real Madrid did recruit Endrick this summer who is a natural striker, but the teenager has struggled to find his footing in the team. With both attacking signings struggling in the number nine position, Real Madrid look set to join the race for one of the top goal scoring strikers in Europe.

According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid are set to join Liverpool and Barcelona in a stiff race to sign Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram as the club still searches for a long term replacement for Karim Benzema.

In just his second season in Serie A, Thuram is having himself another stellar season already recording 10 goals and three assists. The Frenchman is only three goals off of his tally for the entirety of last season. Over the past two seasons, the Inter Milan forward is slowly cementing himself as one of the top strikers in Europe.

Currently valued at €65 million, Thuram's standout play for Inter Milan has garnered attention from other top clubs in Europe which include Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Barcelona. Thuram is currently under contract with the Italian club until 2028, but if a sizeable bid comes in, Inter Milan may be tempted to sell the forward for financial reasons.
