Real Madrid are not going to be keeping Alvaro Arbeloa around after the 2025/26 La Liga season ends. Although Arbeloa has done well enough to name himself among the best up and coming managers in world football and won't be unemployed for long, Florentino Perez and the club want to bring in a stronger manager with a bigger pedigree - and the sort of clout who can set the troublemakers in the squad straight.

A number of big names have been linked to Real Madrid, but the main two dream options for Perez are Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp. These are Champions League winning managers who are as reputed as any player in the current squad.

Of the two, Mourinho seems to be the one more interested in Real Madrid, and he and Perez both mutually appear to want to run it back. Mou never won the Champions League in Madrid, but he set records, came agonizingly close in the Champions League, and set in motion the return of the club to dominance in the 2010s.

Jose Mourinho is getting closer and closer

According to the latest information from Jose Felix Diaz of Diario AS, via Madrid Xtra, there is a 90 percent chance Jose Mourinho will become the next manager of Real Madrid. JFD says that Real can hire Mou for a mere three million euros and that things are getting more advanced with both Florentino Perez and the Portuguese manager wanting to get things done. Diaz says that all roads currently lead to Mourinho and that Real Madrid have only been making moves for him - and nobody else.

Mourinho already looked like the favorite a week or two ago when the rumors first started to accelerate, and with Jurgen Klopp seemingly comfortable with Red Bull and no other candidates really emerging or appealing, Mourinho really does seem like the nailed on favorite to the point where it would be an upset for anyone else to take the job.

There are going to be misgivings about Mourinho given his lack of recent success, but sometimes the big personality of the Special One is exactly what is needed, regardless of his volatility. Mourinho may be one of the few guys Perez respects enough to give the sort of power the manager needs to have over players like Kylian Mbappe or even Alvaro Carreras. It may only be a matter of time before Mou is confirmed as the next Madrid manager.
