Jurgen Klopp is the man whom most Real Madrid fans want to become Xabi Alonso's permanent replacement. The German is one of Europe's most highly-respected tacticians who can lift teams out of difficult situations.

For now, Klopp is working as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer but there are rumors of him desiring a return to management. That might not be with Real though as Atletico Madrid have emerged as a possible destination.

A report from El Chiringuito TV claims that Atleti chiefs are eyeing Klopp to replace Diego Simeone. They go as far as to say that the former Liverpool manager is in "advanced talks" about succeeding the Argentine.

Klopp previously downplayed links to the Real job and pointed out the issues Alonso experienced. His comments didn't stop the rumor mill from continuing to suggest he is secretly enticed by the chance to take over at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Jurgen Klopp could snub Real Madrid for Atletico Madrid

Unfortunately for Real, his wish to return to the dugout might be handed to him by Atleti. The report claims that he is in discussions with Mark Rown the CEO of Apollo the majority shareholder of the Spanish giants.

Simeone has a year left on his contract and it seems Klopp is the man whom Los Colchoneros want to succeed him. It would be an interesting appointment given the past issues between the pair during their clashes in the Champions League.

If Klopp were to replace Simeone, it would be a devastating outcome for Real and Florentino Perez. The club's president is particularly pushing for the German and has waxed lyrical about him in the past.

Los Blancos would miss out on their top managerial target and to their cross-city rivals. He could transform Atleti back into the top club in Spanish football given his impressive track record of success.

Nervy times for Perez

Klopp propelled Liverpool into one of Europe's most formidable teams during his nine years at Anfield. He oversaw their first league title win in 30 years alongside a Champions League triumph.

It also highlights clear issues occuring at the Bernabeu with a manager of Klopp's status unimpressed with the club's current structure. He wants to have control including in the transfer market and this was something Alonso wasn't handed during his short-lived reign.

Klopp's return to management must happen with Real if he is to arrive in La Liga. He fits the bill for Los Blancos with a bubbly personality and an exciting brand of football.

There's little chance of Alvaro Arbeloa staying on as Real manager once his contract expires in June. He's been in charge on a caretaker basis but his side have faltered, slipping behind Barcelona in the title race and come up against Manchester City in the Champions League last 16.
