It wouldn't be a typical Real Madrid season if the squad weren't ravaged by countless injuries to key players at the worst possible time. This has been happening every season since 2020/21, significantly affecting the team's form and costing them the chance at trophies that are well within their grasp.

So far this season, Dani Carvajal, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, and even Kylian Mbappe have been sidelined with injuries, and their absences have proven costly in key games.

And for a Madrid frontline that, outside of Mbappe, is already struggling for form, and an injury up front is the worst nightmare for Los Blancos, and that nightmare has just come true for Arbeloa.

Real Madrid just confirmed Arbeloa’s worst injury nightmare

Real Madrid has released an official club statement confirming that Rodrygo has been diagnosed with tendinosis in his right hamstring and will be sidelined for the time being. Other reports suggest he could be out for around 10 days, but the true extent of his absence remains unknown at this point.

The Brazilian was already suspended for Madrid's upcoming Champions League matches against Benfica, and now, with an injury on top of that, his first two months of 2026 are just getting worse and worse. As mentioned earlier, he was already set to miss matches against Benfica due to suspension, but he is now expected to also miss matches against Valencia and Real Sociedad.

This injury comes at such a painful time, as he had just been finding his form again following the worst scoreless drought in his time with the club. He managed to grab four goals and an assist in five games to close out 2025 and start 2026, helping him get his confidence back, just for it all to be knocked back down again due to injuries.

Mbappe has been the only attacker who has been in consistent form across the whole season, and Real desperately need their other attackers to step up and help the Frenchman. Rodrygo took the initiative to step up, and fans loved seeing him return to his best. so for him to get sidelined with an injury is heartbreaking as we head into the crucial months of the season.
