Because the average mainstream football fan doesn't pay much attention to Ligue 1, the half season Endrick had with the historic French powerhouse went largely unnoticed. But the Brazilian teenage sensation proved, without a shadow of a doubt, that he was indeed worth the hype that got him sent to Real Madrid from Palmeiras directly in a mega winter transfer.
Although Endrick barely played under Xabi Alonso in the first half of the 2025/26 La Liga season, with 12 goal contributions in just 16 Ligue 1 appearances, the young man showed that this was more of an Alonso problem than an Endrick problem.
And now, former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has rewarded Endrick with one of the highest honors, selecting the 19 year old to represent the Selecao over the likes of Richarlison at the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Carlo Ancelotti values Endrick highly now
Getting called up for the Brazil national team at that young of an age is massive deal, but it is well deserved. Only Vinicius Junior, who is second behind Harry Kane in goals in 2026, has been as good as Endrick on the Brazil national team these last few months among the forwards, and given his sweet left foot, Endrick could push himself into starts for Brazil.
Ancelotti's selection of Endrick is a huge message to his predecessor at Real Madrid in the 2010s, Jose Mourinho, who will soon officially take over the prestigious Merengue club after Alvaro Arbeloa when the 2025/26 La Liga campaign ends.
The message is this: Endrick is ready for the big time. He is ready to be important to Brazil, and he is ready to be important for Real Madrid. And with Kylian Mbappe showing, once again, vs. Sevilla that his goals are more overrated and his contribtions to the team are becoming more and more negative, Endrick is not out of the question to push him for starts in the center forward position if he continues this upward trajectory.
Of course, Endrick isn't ready to walk in and start over Mbappe as the Real Madrid striker, but he is on the right path. And by making Ancelotti's Brazil national team two years after Carlo was cautious to play him regularly, beyond his great scoring record in the Copa del Rey, Don Carlo has affirmed the fact that the Brazilian teenager has improved by leaps and bounds. Now, the ball will be in Jose Mourinho's court to decide how much to put on his plate.
