Real Madrid have decided to use their buyback clause on Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon for less than €9 million in the summer of 2027, according to reliable journalist Matteo Moretto.
On Thursday, the journalist reported that Ramon will come back to Real Madrid in the summer, and then from there on, they will decide the player's future together. There are multiple Premier League clubs interested in signing the Spanish centre-back, and the club will decide whether to sell the player on for a bigger fee or to keep him at the club for the future.
Ramon is one of the best centre-backs that Real Madrid have produced in the last few years, and he has proven that he is playing at a very, very high level. At Real Madrid, he was not able to show that in the limited minutes he played for the first team in 2025, due to one reason or the other. Since he's gone to Como, it seems like he's gone up a few levels in terms of the quality that he's showing. He has become a mainstay in the heart of defense for Cesc Fabregas' side, and it just seems like the perfect fit at the moment.
Jacobo Ramon would be a great option to have for Real Madrid
The journalist did not mention if Como could sign him back in a similar way to how they did for Nico Paz in the summer, but it is not a bad option to have for Ramon if he wants to continue his development in Italy.
There is an option to stay at Real Madrid as well, because Ramon is genuinely good enough to at least be a third- or fourth-choice centre-back at the club.
Antonio Rudiger is not going to be at the club much longer. With Ramon being one of the best young centre-backs in the world at the moment, it might be worth bringing him in and then helping him compete with the other centre-backs to have a shot at starting for the club regularly.
That would obviously be more difficult than to stay at Como and start every single match, but it is up to Ramon and the club if that is the risk that he wants to take.
Obviously, the reward is also incredibly high. He gets to play for his boyhood club and at least gets a shot at being a regular feature. If Ramon performs well for Real Madrid, he could genuinely be in the conversation to be a starter, and that would be a brilliant thing to watch.
There is no reason to get ahead of ourselves, though, because the deal does not say that he is definitely going to stay at Real Madrid beyond the summer. There is a chance of that happening, and Real Madrid should take that chance because they're getting one of the top young centre-backs in Europe for a fee that is simply ridiculous. Either way, they are getting a brilliant return on this deal.
