Ouch, that draw didn't favor Real Madrid.

Real Madrid has a phenomenal presence in UEFA competitions. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, for that reason alone. However, Real Madrid Femenino is yet to win the Champions League.

The club officially launched in 2020, and has been the runner-up in Liga F for the last three seasons. There is a growing feeling that they are growing closer to lifting their first trophy, and that it could be this season.

Last time out, Real Madrid Femenino reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. They were knocked out by the eventual winners Arsenal, in less than ideal playing conditions.

This year, Pau Quesada's side has their eye on one thing, and that is silverware. Ideally, it will be the Champions League, the most prestigious trophy in club sports. However, they wouldn't turn up their nose at a Liga F trophy, either.

Real Madrid got the worst possible Women's Champions League draw

The Women's Champions League draw was just made for the league phase, and Real Madrid's nightmare draw came true: Wolfsburg (H), Arsenal (A), Roma (H), Paris Saint-Germain (A), Paris FC (H), and FC Twente (A).

Yeah, some pretty tough opponents in there.

Real Madrid could not escape Arsenal, who has one of the greatest Women's teams on the planet right now. The North London outfit won the Champions League last season, no less, and they've started this campaign in fine form, swatting aside both the London City Lionesses and West Ham in the opening two WSL games.

Wolfsburg is also one the toughest opponents Real Madrid could have faced. The German side has won the Champions League twice, and last played in the final only two years ago.

To automatically progress past the league phase and into the knockouts, Real Madrid must finish in the top four of the league phase after six games. Any teams that finish fifth to 12th must then play a two-legged knockout round, and the four winners will then succeed to the quarter-finals.

There's no denying that this is a tough draw for Real Madrid. However, they will back themselves to get through to the knockout phase. To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Real Madrid's squad has never been as good and as talented as it is now. They just keep on getting better and better. With some of the best players in the world, including Caroline Weir and Linda Caicedo, Real Madrid has every right to target silverware this season.
