Real Madrid star right back Trent Alexander-Arnold joined the Santiago Bernabeu with a great deal of fanfare, and although it took the 10 million euro signing a little bit of time to get going, it was ultimately actually fairly easy for him to unseat the legendary Dani Carvajal, who is officially making his way out of the club now that the 2025/26 campaign is rounding up.
Trent has been sent from above in terms of his chance creation and crossing, finally giving Real Madrid not one but two excellent corner kick takers alongside young gem midfield playmaker Arda Guler.
And with Guler out injured, Alexander-Arnold has been the best creator on the team, and even when the young Turkish interational is healthy, the specific placement, curl, and weight of Trent's cultured passes are simply on another level to anyone at Real Madrid in the last 10 years besides Toni Kroos.
Real Madrid don't want to spend big
Real Madrid do have to think about cover for Trent, though, as Dani Carvajal is heading off into the sun set and Real have been linked to established starters around European football, such as Diogo Dalot of Manchester United (an old friend of Cristiano Ronaldo's) and Michael Kayode over at Brentford.
Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro is another name who has been mentioned in rumors, and Real Madrid were actually scouting him and Nuno Mendes out at Sporting CP in 2022 before Spurs dove in months later.
But according to a report from Diario AS, via the Madrid Zone, Real Madrid are ultimately not expected to make a move for Porro due to cost concerns. They still love him as a possible option, but Real Madrid would rather spend their money elsewhere with other pressing needs at center back and in the middle of the park. So the expected outcome is that elite prospects Jesus Fortea and David Jimenez, who have both shown the potential to be special, will likely get the call ups.
Now this is all very good news for Trent Alexander-Arnold more than anyone else. Trent's spot as the starting right back was always going to be safe in Madrid with how well he's been doing in recent weeks, but this report just seals the fact that Real Madrid don't think right back is a truly pressing need or that they need to spend big on someone who can push Trent for minutes. They don't want the Porros and oversell when they can ride with Trent and trust in a Jimenez or Fortea.
