Real Madrid's full transition to the new younger generation of players is all but done. There are only a few veteran players from the older generation left in the squad and in the next few years they will surely depart the club.
A number of the key players of the past generation have departed the club for the next steps in their career. Players like Karim Benzema, Casemiro, and Marcelo have all left the club in the last three years after playing a major part in the clubs history.
Another key player that has departed the club in recent years is former club captain Sergio Ramos. The Spaniard departed the club in the summer of 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain where he played two seasons before leaving the French side to return to his boyhood club Sevilla.
In the summer of 2024 Sevilla announced Ramos would not return to the club for the next season, and he has remained out of football since then. However, the legend has reportedly agree a deal to return to football at an unlikely club.
Real Madrid legend agrees one-year deal to join Mexican team
As reported by ESPN, Sergio Ramos is set to complete a medical and has agreed a one-year deal to join Mexican side Monterrey. This will be Ramos' second team since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021.
