Over the last few years we've seen a number of Real Madrid legends of the old generation depart the club for the next step in their careers. Players like Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric have all either left for another club or retired leaving Los Blancos looking very different than the team some of us grew up watching. Another legend that has since departed Real Madrid is Casemiro. The midfielder left for Manchester United at the start of the 22/23 season, and after a successful stint in the Premier League, he is in line for his next move, however he will be teaming up with Real Madrid's greatest nemesis, Lionel Messi.

As being reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, Inter Miami are progressing into the final stage of a deal to sign former Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro as a free agent following his departure from Manchester United. The Brazilian will finish up the season with United, head to the World Cup with Brazil and then stay in the United States to sign his contract with Inter Miami, becoming the latest star of Europe to join the MLS.

Casemiro close to linking up with Real Madrid's greatest nemesis

Real Madrid are no strangers to seeing their former players making the move to the MLS having seen the likes of Gareth Bale, Gonzalo Higuain, David Beckham, Kaka, and Chicharito all spend time playing in the United States, and now Casemiro will be the latest to join that list. The 34-year-old has had a dream career so for it to end by going to one last World Cup with Brazil then chilling in Miami playing with Messi is fitting for a modern legend like him.

His time at Real Madrid speaks for itself but his time at United, while it may not look it was a smashing success for both the player and the club. He arrived at the start of the 22/23 season and despite it being a tough season in the league, he won the Carabao Cup that season and came runner-up in the FA Cup that same year before winning the FA Cup in the 23/24 season. The club went through some tough times during his stint but this season at 34-years-old he stepped up his game massively as a cornerstone piece to United's third place finish in the league and bagged his best ever goal scoring season with nine goals.

Having done his part in helping United get back on the path to the top, his time at the Premier League has come to an end with him leaving as a beloved figure by the fans. Naturally at 34-years-old his next step is a step down from Europe and in the modern game he chose to play for the love of the game in the MLS instead of taking the money in Saudi Arabia.

As mentioned earlier he will be teaming up with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami and it will no doubt be surreal to see the two playing on the same team after all the intense battles the two shared during their times at Real Madrid and Barcelona. The MLS is becoming a very entertaining league to watch and with Antoine Griezmann leaving Atletico to join Orlando City and now Casemiro to Inter Miami this summer, and the MLS is stepping up it's game from what many used to view as a retirement league in years past.
