Vinicius Junior was on the receiving end of heavy boos and whistles from Real Madrid fans even before their game against Levante began. The Brazilian attacker had to be consoled by Kylian Mbappe as he seemed to be the main target of Madridistas following Xabi Alonso's dismissal.
Madrid won 2-0 thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe from the penalty spot and Raul Asencio. It was a much-needed win after Alvaro Arbeloa's first game in charge as caretaker manager ended in a humiliating 3-2 defeat to Segunda Division outfit Albacete.
But Madrid fans made their feeling clear in the aftermath of Alonso's departure, whistling not only Vinicius but also Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde. The club's president Florentino Perez was in the stands and he too was put on blast by the home crowd.
Vinicius emotional after Madrid fans jeers
Vinicius' relationship with Alonso was described as not good during their time together at Madrid. Some suggest the 25-year-old is ready to make a U-turn over a contract extension and extend his stay at the Estadio Bernabeu following the Spaniard's departure.
Madridistas weren't happy with the Brazil international and let him know it, jeering every time he touched the ball. He was also targeted ahead of the game when Arbeloa's players prepared to warm up.
Cameras caught Vinicius with his head in his hands as Mbappe tried to comfort him. So too was fitness coach Antonio Pintus as the Brazilian realised just how angry the supporters were with him.

Vinicius has struggled to impress this season, in fact, enduring the worst campaign since he joined Los Blancos back in 2018. He went 18 games without scoring before finding the back of the net in Alonso's final game, a 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana final.
Vinicius now knows no player is bigger than the team
Madrid have a player power problem that took hold at the Bernabeu during Alonso's reign. Reports claim that some of the squad weren't happy with the Spaniard's training sessions or his tactics.
Vinicius' worrying performances led to Alonso subbing him off several times during the campaign. This clearly frustrated the winger who was visibly irritated by his manager's willingness to bring off a player who many believe should have won the Ballon d'Or two years ago.
The reaction from fans today is a wake up call for the Brazilian who has had it his way for far long. His response to this will be important as a toxic relationship with supporters never ends well.
