Real Madrid might have a fight on their hands to keep one of their most important players at the Santiago Bernabeu. Liverpool have long been admirers of Federico Valverde and they seem keen to move for the Uruguayan this summer.

According to Spanish outlet E-Noticies, the Reds are prepared to sign Valverde if he decides to leave the club this summer. They claim that the Premier League giants are joined by Manchester United in the race for the Madrid man.

Valverde's contract runs until 2029 and he's shown no signs of pushing to leave the club. He has been a mainstay in the team this season, appearing 37 times and providing two goals and 12 assists.

Fede Valverde is a wanted man

The report claims that Liverpool, United, and Bayern Munich are all willing to pay €85 million for Valverde. They suggest that the board would take this offer under consideration.

Valverde has been at the Bernabeu since the summer of 2018 and become a hero with Los Blancos. He's won every major trophy and been a key man in recent years thanks to his versatility, playing as a makeshift right-back.

A new manager is likely to be in charge next season and it's claimed that they might prefer a different midfield profile. Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez is of interest and he is more attack minded than the Uruguayan.

Valverde's bond with the club's fanbase is also being factored in to any decision over a possible sale. He is a fan favorite and has always spoken of his pride being able to play for Los Merengues.

Madrid must rule out an exit

Selling Valverde would be the worst way for a new manager to start a new era at the Bernabeu. He might not be enjoying his best season during his spell in the Spanish capital but he's been one of his team's best performers.

With Madrid already on the lookout for a new midfielder, there isn't much justification for selling a player of Valverde's ability. He's so well-rounded and that's shown through his adaption to other positions.

Valverde is a leader who should be one of the main figureheads in a new team built under new management. He has much-needed experience and knowledge of what is required of Los Blancos' players.

The higher-ups should get tough with the squad this summer and be prepared to part ways with some high-profile names to address glaring issues. Valverde isn't one of them.
