Real Madrid center midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is the biggest name who could be made expendable on the transfer market this summer window. There have been rumors swirling about his status over the past couple of months, and they have only increased after multiple poor performances against weaker competition in La Liga that cost the Merengues valuable points in the title race, as well as that infamous red card vs. Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals (though that should count against him less than the actual positional errors).

Although Camavinga's lack of development these last few seasons has been a disappointing trend, the Frenchman is still a very valuable player in world football with two Champions League titles. And in a freer role as a true No. 8, he can be a real weapon, including changing big games off the bench, which he was doing from the moment he stepped foot at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2021/22 as a rookie.

Camavinga does not want to leave Real Madrid at all this summer, and although he is mentioned frequently in the papers, it doesn't sound like Los Blancos are trying to aggressively push him out the door either when you actually look at things more closely.

Eduardo Camavinga isn't an obvious departure

Surprisingly, his first concrete transfer suitor in May is Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray, and Yagiz Sabuncuolgu reports that Real Madrid have told the Turkish giants that they are looking for a whopping 80 million euros in exchange for the 23 year old left footed midfielder.

Even though Real Madrid only paid 30 million euros for him from Rennes in 2021 as their only signing of the window they failed to nab Kylian Mbappe from Paris, he was considered the bargain of the summer at that time and was actually valued closer to 60 million euros in a vaccuum - his price falling sharply in 2021 after a bizarre 2020/21 season in which everyone at Rennes suffered badly.

Judging by his Champions League winning pedigree, Eduardo Camavinga is indeed worth well beyond the initial payment Real Madrid sent to Rennes for the energetic box to box center midfielder. But the thing is, if Real Madrid are really that open to selling, they usually ask for a lot less than 80 million euros, even for a desirable young player. Martin Odegaard, for example, did not go to Arsenal for nearly that much, and while O wasn't a key Champions League winner in two seasons, he was also a more attacking player. So it sounds like Florentino Perez isn't so ready to give up on Cama just yet.
