Real Madrid are reportedly ready to pursue a deal for one of Europe's most highly-rated midfielders. The La Liga giants are eyeing Paris Saint-Germain's Vitinha and the Portuguese playmaker is open to a move to the Estadio Bernabeu.
According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER (via Madrid Universal), Los Blancos will move for Vitinha when the "conditions are right." The player has an agreement with PSG to leave for around €100m.
Vitinha has been a key man for Luis Enrique and was crucial in the Parisians' UEFA Champions League triumph last season. He has continued to star at the Parc des Princes this term, posting six goals and 10 assists in 35 games across competitions.
Madrid are set for a rebuild this summer and signing a new creative midfielder is a priority. The club's transfer chiefs have looked at younger talent such as AZ Alkmaar's Kees Smit and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton.
Vitinha would be a game-changing signing for Los Blancos given his experience and reputation in the game. He finished third in the Ballon d'Or race last year after a stellar season which saw PSG win the sextuple.
Former Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was left stunned by Vitinha after coming up against him earlier this season. The Dane told reporters: "Vitinha, best midfielder in the world, he'll be the next Ballon d'Or winner for me."
The 26-year-old has just over three years on his contract which does make a potential deal harder to pull off. But relations between the two clubs has improved and the report suggests that could be an important factor.
Vitinha is worth it
A €100m asking price is expensive but Vitinha is the real deal and could be the missing piece for Madrid's midfield. He is a brilliant ball-playing midfielder who doesn't have any flaws in his game.
Vitinha can even come up with a stunning strike from outside the box and is effective helping out in defence. He could take this Los Blancos side back to the top of European football.
Madrid have needed to replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric since the iconic pair left the Bernabeu. Kroos retired in 2024 while Modric headed to AC Milan and he's left the club perhaps ruing their decision to part ways last summer.
Vitinha has qualities that those two Madrid heroes share in his ability on the ball. If the La Liga heavyweights are going to spend big on a Galactico-esque signing, he's the one that should be holding up a Los Merengues jersey this summer.
