It's pretty obvious to everyone that Real Madrid's squad is in desperate need of changes. The club is planning a major overhaul this summer, and have identified one particular area that they want to improve on, the midfield. The midfield is a disaster both on and off the pitch and if they club hopes to get back to dominating Europe some players will have to go to make room for player who can come in and fix things. The club has drawn up a shopping list of midfield targets, and after months of thinking, they seem to have finally decided who they want to make their move for.

As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Real Madrid are set to make a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernanez, with the club deciding to go all out to sign the Argentine international, with it being reported that there is a big chance Chelsea's match against Sunderland this weekend will be Enzo's last game in a Chelsea shirt.

Real Madrid going all in for Chelsea cornerstone

The two names Real Madrid have been considering the most are Enzo Fernandez and Rodri, with the club playing hot potato trying to decied who they want to sign and finally they have made up their minds and they have made the right call. If you watch Enzo play you can see that he is the exact kind of player that is the missing link in the mdidfield that Real Madrid have been missing since the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

His ability on the ball, passing range, composure, and South American intensity is something the midfield is in dier need of and partnering him with either Aurelien Tchouameni or Fede Valverde (depending on who stays) and also throwing either Jude Bellingham or Arda Guler into the mix could create the perfectly balanced midfield Real Madrid has been trying to create since the departures to teh Kroos-Casemiro-Modric trio.

Enzo hasn't been shy about his desires to one day play for Real Madrid and with the interest from both the player and the club being mutal, the stars could finally be aligning for Enzo to end up at the Bernabeu.

However there are still two major hurdles for a deal to go through. One is the price tag, Chelsea bought Enzo for €120 million following the 2022 World Cup and will no doubt want to get close to that figure, a figure that Real Madrid most likely won't want to pay. And second is Xabi Alonso. Alonso was just appointed as the new Chelsea manager and plans to use Enzo as a cornerstone piece of his project and won't be to eager to let the Argentine leave, especially to Real Madrid after everything thgat happended between the two parties this season.
