Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is feeling the heat of the challenge for his presidency from Cox Energy founder Enrique Riquelme, and while the younger Madridista is clearly the underdog, he does have some big names working with him like Iker Casillas and Raul.

But even though Riquelme is making big claims of Erling Haaland and Rodri as his marquee signing for the Merengues if he were to win, Florentino is in a position where he can sign world-class players here and now, not just on paper, for Real Madrid.

As Real Madrid make inroads for the hottest free agent on the market, former Liverpool center back Ibrahima Konate, they are also going for another world-class bargain bin defensive signing to potentially play alongside Konate and his former Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Real Madrid have a blockbuster move on the horizon

Real Madrid have been linked to Inter Milan star right wing back Denzel Dumfries out of nowhere, and the interest appears to be serious. And as if that were not enough, Fabrizio Romano has some more news to make Madridistas even more enticed by the prospect of landing the Dutchman at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Per Fab, via Madrid Xtra, Dumfries would be almost comically cheap. Reportedly, Dumfries has a release clause in his current contract with the Serie A champions worth somewhere south of 25 million euros, meaning Real Madrid technically do not even have to negotiate with the Nerazzurri if they want to sign Dumfries in 2026.

It is wild to think that for potentially around 30 million euros total, Real Madrid could have two of the best right backs on the planet together in the same squad even after losing the legendary Dani Carvajal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a technical wizard who can create chances from nothing, while Denzel Dumfries is a robust athlete with a nonstop motor. Both men are experienced champions and highly intelligence, understanding timing, movement, and tactics better than just about any other right back on the planet.

Real Madrid are thinking outside the box with their transfer targets, and Dumfries is a proven winner at an elite club who moves the needle. He defends, runs, carries the ball, and can score and assist more prolifically than honestly most of the wingers in La Liga right now. If Real are serious and able to close this deal, Florentino Perez will have made another big statement to Enrique Riquelme and world football as a whole.
