Real Madrid might have already given up on Trent Alexander-Arnold

Over the last few years, Real Madrid have been in their transition phase. The players of the old generation have been departing the club over the last few years for the next step of their career and newer younger players are coming in to replace them to be key building blocks of the new generation of Los Blancos.

This past summer transfer window followed this philosophy exactly, as we saw players like Luka Modric and even Jesus Vallejo depart the club, while players such as Alvaro Carreras, Dean Huijsen, and Trent Alexander-Arnold arrived and are expected to be key players for years to come.

One player in particular who arrived this summer that many had high expectations for is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The fullback was strongly recruited by Madrid this summer, and given his talent, and what he achieved at Liverpool, he arrived with high expectations on his shoulders.

However, unfortunately, his time at the club hasn't got off to the dream start many had hoped for, and latest reports suggest that Los Blancos could already be ready to move on from the Englishman.

Have Madrid ran out of patience with Trent?

According to Madrid Universal on X, Real Madrid have their sights set on Sevilla right-back José Angel as they continue to search for their long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, whose time at the club could be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

As mentioned earlier, Alexander-Arnold's start at the Bernabeu hasn't been the best, or as many expected upon his arrival. He's spent most of his time on the sidelines recovering from injuries that have kept him out for months. As a result, Florentino Perez appears to be growing frustrated with his injury problems and is looking to not only give him competition but possibly replace him.

Sevilla's right-back, José Angel, has emerged as a potential candidate to join Madrid, competing with Alexander-Arnold to bring his best levels back through healthy competition.

The 23-year-old right-back, who can also play center-back, came through the Sevilla academy and has registered one goal and three assists in 20 appearances so far this season.

Angel is under contract with Sevilla until 2028 and is currently valued at around €12 million (per Transfermarkt), so a move for him should be easy to get done should Real step up their interest. He could arrive in the summer but a January move seems all but off the table given Trent is expected back soon, and Perez already ruled out any winter arrivals.
