Endrick has made a remarkable start to life at Lyon since joining the French club from Real Madrid earlier this month. He arrived in Ligue 1 on loan on New Year's Day with a desire to be given more first-team opportunities.

The 19-year-old has immediately become one of the most important players in Paul Fonseca's team, certainly from an attacking standpoint. He hit a hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Metz on Sunday to take his tally for his new side to four goals and one assist in just three appearances across competitions.

Endrick's sensational form has massively impressed Fonseca and the Portuguese coach is eager for him to remain at the Groupama Stadium. Madrid look to have a decision to make over his future at the end of the season.

Lyon want Endrick to stay

Endrick's loan spell is set to end in June but Lyon are keen to keep the Brazilian starlet. That's according to ESPN Brasil (via the Madrid Zone), who claim that the French outfit want to extend his loan.

Fonseca is said to have asked the higher-ups to do "everything they can" to persuade Madrid to allow the player to continue staying in France longer. This will be a huge decision given that he has been living up to expectations since making the move.

Alvaro Arbeloa or the next permanent Los Blancos boss might feel Endrick is better off staying with Lyon and continuing his development. But his form might have convinced the coaching team that he should be back at the Estadio Bernabeu next season.

Endrick joined Madrid from Brazilian side Palmeiras in the summer of 2024 for €60m. He's made 40 appearances for the Spanish capital club, posting seven goals and one assist.

Madrid's attacking options mean Endrick likely won't be given the talismanic role he's been handed by Fonseca at Lyon. When he arrived at the Bernabeu it was clear that he was signed for the future and that he wouldn't be handed consistent game time at this stage of his career.

The club have the chance to have the Brazil international continue to grow at Lyon and a full season in France would only further help him. Once he returns to the Spanish capital he could be the real deal and will have the experience of playing the main man role at one of Europe's most respected clubs.

Endrick will probably be eager to carry on playing regularly and that just isn't possible in this Madrid team. It's a decision that should be made after the World Cup but it's definitely an idea that has more positives than negatives.
