Real Madrid have already been linked with Manchester City midfielder Rodri ahead of the summer transfer window. The Spanish midfielder's future is uncertain with some expecting Pep Guardiola to leave the Etihad.

Rodri has been a Guardiola favorite ever since he joined City in 2019 and he remains one of Europe's most highly-admired defensive midfielders. Reports claim that Madrid could move for him if they feel there is an opportunity to sign the 29-year-old.

While bringing Rodri to the Estadio Bernabeu could prove an astute piece of business he's not the only City star who should be on the club's radar. One of his long-term teammates is also avaiable and Bayern Munich are keen.

Man City star's availability should put Madrid on alert

John Stones looks to be entering the final few months of his City career amid the English defender's contract expiring this summer. He has been a stalwart in Guardiola's team and was labelled 'world-class' by Gary Lineker back in 2024.

According to CaughtOffside, Stones is expected to leave the Etihad and Bayern are showing interest in the 31-year-old. It's claimed that the Bavarians' Harry Kane, his English compatriot, could be crucial in a potential deal.

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also eyeing the Englishman who has been at City for a decade. He has won every major trophy on offer and provided remarkable versatility.

Guardiola has been able to use Stones as a holding midfielder aswell as a makeshift full-back. He has excelled in any role handed to him although he hasn't been a regular this season.

Stones has dealt with a thigh issue that has resulted in him making just 13 appearances across competitions. His experience and adaptability would be of massive use to whomever is in charge at Madrid next season.

The fact he will be available on a free transfer makes the former Everton man an easy solution for several issues this Los Blancos team are experiencing. He might be prepared to take on a rotational role at this stage of his career but his potential acquistion plugs so many gaps.

Stones could be one of two center-back signings

Madrid are set to sign a new central defender this summer and it seems that Nico Schlotterbeck is their top target. The Borussia Dortmund star looks likely to be on the move and he fits the bill for Los Blancos.

Schlotterbeck is a left-footed center-back and could be the ideal long-term Antonio Rudiger replacement. Should the club swoop for the 26-year-old German they could do so while bringing the experienced Stones to the Spanish capital alongside him.
