Real Madrid are set to make at least one midfield signing in the summer and speculation is growing over a move for a Premier League star.
Florentino Perez's transfer chiefs decided not to swoop for a new midfield signing last summer which proved the wrong decision. Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga have put in concerning performances this season and Dani Ceballos isn't a long-term solution.
Several names have been linked with Madrid, including Crystal Palace's English youngster Adam Wharton. Reports have also suggested Jurgen Klopp would be keen to bring Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes to the Estadio Bernabeu if he replaces Xabi Alonso.
Real Madrid need to stop chasing Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez
Enzo Fernandez is another target according to reports and the Argentine midfielder has long been on Madrid's radar. He was in demand after enjoying a breakout 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but Los Blancos weren't prepared to match Chelsea's €121 million offer to Benfica in January 2023.
The 25-year-old was expected to become a world class superstar at Stamford Bridge but that hasn't been the case. While he's put in some eye-catching displays he has yet to reach expectations.
According to Dean Jones of TEAMtalk, Chelsea have indicated to Madrid to that Fernandez is available for the "right price." He faces an uncertain future once the season concludes and the La Liga giants have been "monitoring the situation closely."
Fernandez isn't viewed as untouchable and as such the Blues could be willing to sell if they receive a huge bid. This is likely to be more than the hefty fee that the Premier League club paid for the Argentina international so it could mean he becomes the most expensive player in the club's history.
Enzo Fernandez isn't the one for Real Madrid

There is no doubting Fernandez's ability, and he has proven more than capable in front of goal. An assist in a 2-0 win over Brentford on the weekend means he's now registered 50 goal contributions in 146 games for Chelsea.
That said, the Argentine hasn't set the world alight and has come in and out form while at Stamford Bridge. Madrid need a game-changing midfield signing who shows consitency, something that has been lacking from Tchouameni and Camavinga.
If Madrid are to target anyone from Chelsea it should be Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian is one of the best holding midfielders in the world and is comfortable on the ball while brilliant driving his team forward.
Caicedo would be equally if not more expensive than Fernandez but he'd be worth it in comparison. The 24-year-old could be persuaded on a move to the Bernabeu given the West Londoners aren't challenging for the title or looking likely to be Champions League contenders.
