Real Madrid want a new midfielder who offers creativity and they shouldn't look further than the Premier League. Some of the best playmakers in Europe ply their trade in the English top-flight.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been linked with Madrid in recent weeks but Fabrizio Romano confirmed those rumors were false. Another name who is thought to be under consideration if Jurgen Klopp were to become the club's new permanent manager is Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes.
But there's no word on whether Guimaraes is looking to leave Newcastle where he is playing a starring role for Eddie Howe's side. But one of his teammates seems to want out of St James' Park and Arsenal were given the chance to sign him.
Real Madrid should be on alert after Tonali-Arsenal news
David Ornsten of The Athletic reports that Tonali's agents contacted the Premier League leaders over possibly signing the Italian. They made contact with Newcastle to see if there was any opportunity of a January deal but this was ruled out.
🚨 Sandro Tonali offered to Arsenal by agent so #AFC explored but no contact with Newcastle United; nothing will happen this window. 25yo’s camp put idea to Andrea Berta so looked into as per any player of interest. #NUFC exit now impossible @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/Dj1rlbgFbH

There is an indication that Tonali could be one to watch in the summer transfer window as his side struggle to keep up in the top four race. He has been superb since arriving at St James' Park from AC Milan, posting five assists in 35 games across competitions this season.
This isn't by any means been Tonali's best season but he remains one of the most highly-rated midfield talents in England. His future could be up in the air in the summer and Madrid should be on alert regarding his potential availability.
Arsenal might be considering swooping for the 25-year-old to add to a stacked midfield. He'd likely partner Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi in a midfield three.
Tonali could be a perfect fit for Los Blancos as he's an all-action midfielder who is excellent on the ball but also puts in a shift defensively. Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga haven't been at their best and there are suggestions Camavinga could be on Liverpool's radar.
How much would Tonali cost?
Tonali will have two years left on his contract this summer but might be looking for a move to continue playing in the Champions League. Newcastle sit 11th in the Premier League with 14 games remaining.
According to Metro, the Magpies have slapped a £100m price tag on the Italy international. It comes amid interest not only from Arsenal but also Chelsea who continue to rebuild their squad every summer.
This fee seems quite expensive but given his age and profile it is justifiable. He could probably play in any midfield in the Premier League and would be a fine addition to the Madrid team.
