It goes without saying that Real Madrid's defense is in need of a major facelift. The backline has been leaking in goals for fun the last two years and the club needs to sort it out if they hope to get back to the top of Europe. With players like David Alaba and Dani Carvajal departing in the summer and potentially Raul Asencio as well, there is plenty of room to make new signings. The club has been linked with a number of central defenders, however if they were smart they would move for this Manchester City defender who just asked to leave the club.
As being reported by GOAL.com Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has instructed his representatives to begin looking for moves away from Manchester City following the departure of Pep Guardiola. There are a number of suitors for Dias including Bayern Munich and PSG, but if Real Madrid were serious, they would hop on this transfer before any other team even gets the chance to make an offer.

As mentioned earlier following the departures of Alaba and Carvajal, and possibly Asencio Real Madrid are left somewhat thin at center-back. Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, and Antonio Rudiger are the only central defenders at the club but with Militao and Huijsen tending to struggle with injuries and with Rudiger not getting any younger, bringing in a player like Ruben Dias is a no brainer during a summer where loads of change will be coming to the club.
Previously the club had been linked with players like Ibrahima Konate, Nico Schlotterbeck, Dayot Upamecano, and Jasko Gvardiol but each of them have their own hurdles in signing, which points even more to Dias being the one that makes sense. Schlotterbeck and Upamecano just extended with their clubs, Konate looks like he is going to, and Gvardiol could cost around €90 million which is too high in the eyes of Real Madrid.
Ruben Dias on the other hand is almost the perfect candidate for Real Madrid. He's still only 29-years-old and brings a number of important attributes to Real Madrid. He's tall, quick, good on the ball, physical, intense, and is a proven winner and leader, as he was a crucial part of Manchester City's historic treble winning season in 22/23, and is affordable with City reportedly only looking for around €60 million.
Real Madrid have become somewhat of a laughing stock in the last month with all the infighting and Florentino Perez's antics in the media and they need to make a statement that they're serious in bouncing back from the last two disappointing seasons and stealing a player like Dias away from teams like Bayern and PSG would be that statement of intent that Real Madrid need to make this summer.
