Real Madrid have been bitten by the injury bug for the past number of seasons, however the number of torn ACL's has to be the most worrying of them all. We've seen six ACL tears in the last three seasons, Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao (twice), David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Rodrygo with the Brazilian's being the most recent. ACL injuries typically take between six to eight months to recover from, and for Real Madrid they've gotten an update when it comes to Rodrygo's recovery and it may be somewhat of a doubled ended sword.

As being reported by MadridXtra on X, Rodrygo is expected to be back from injury in December having been sidelined since early March after suffering a season ending torn ACL. The Brazilian has been rehabbing like a madman since his surgery however despite all his hard work he still has quite a way to go before he is back to fitness, but at least some sort of timetable has been established.

Real Madrid get the Rodrygo news they have been waiting for

As mentioned earlier Rodrygo has been sidelined since March 2nd suffering the injury during Real's 1-0 loss to Getafe, going down injured with what at first the medical staff believed was just a knock to his knee before further tests revealed he indeed actually suffered a torn ACL. Given the extent of his injury was unknown at the time he ended up finishing the match, no doubt worsening his knee, which was already showing signs of a partial tear to his ACL all the way back in 2023, but it went ignored by the medical staff.

This injury came at almost the worst possible time for the Brazilian. After a dreadful first couple of months to the season Rodrygo was just starting to find his form again in January and February grabbing three goals and four assists before the injury brought his season to an untimely end. Unfortunately for the Brazilian he will be missing this summer's FIFA World Cup where he was expected to be a major player in Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

For Rodrygo this injury also comes at the worst time for him when it comes to his place in the team. With Kylian Mbappe still bagging goals for fun and Vinicius Jr finding his best form again, as well as the expected return of Endrick from his loan at Lyon and Rodrygo may find it hard to get his place back in the starting lineup once he is back to full fitness.

From the Brazilian's perspective he faces an uphill battle once he gets back to fitness. With new manager Jose Mourinho coming in it is always hard for injured players to find their way back into a team under a new manager when they miss a number of months, months spent by the manager fine tuning his team to the way they want to play. This season could prove to be a crucial one in Rodrygo's Real Madrid career and it's safe to say fans hope he is able to bounce back to be the important player we all know he can be.
