Real Madrid players want Alvaro Arbeloa to stick around as the permanent manager, but they do not have even a third of the say of what happens at this club. Florentino Perez is the judge, jury, and executioner around the Valdebebas, especially when it comes to the big decisions, and it is abundantly clear at this point that the club president wants to make another big splash at Real Madrid in the manager's chair.

A reunion with Zinedine Zidane is off the table since he has followed in the foot steps of his mentor by taking a major national team job with France after Didier Deschamps leaves France following the 2026 World Cup.

Jurgen Klopp is one name linked to Real Madrid, but it remains to be seen if the former Dortmund and Liverpool man wants to return to coaching now that he has a cushy executive job with the scouting dynamo that is RB Leipzig in east Germany.

Jose Mourinho isn't the only one for Real Madrid

So now, the biggest name on the Real Madrid radar is a different kind of reunion with Jose Mourinho, currently of Benfica. And the rumors linking Real to the Portuguese coach are only heating up, with Jose Felix Diaz of Diario AS reporting, via Madrid Xtra, that Mou has indeed been offered to Los Blancos ahead of this coming summer transfer window.

But that's not all. JFD is also reporting that German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann is also being offered to Real Madrid. He has been loosely linked to Real and less discussed than other national team managers at the World Cup like Lionel Scaloni of Argentina and, especially, Mauricio Pochettino of the United States.

Nagelsmann, though, used to be a dream option for many Real Madrid fans before Xabi Alonso usurped him as the real up and coming gem around German football after he brought "Neverkusen" their first ever major title, breaking up Bayern Munich's Bundesliga hegemony with an insane undefeated season.

But if Alonso found it tough to break through the egos at Real Madrid, Julian Nagelsmann may not have the right stuff to do it either. He does not have the cachet or past accomplishments of Jose Mourinho, and while he may have the fresher ideas, that hasn't translated at the German national team, with German supporters concerned that he is trying to make himself sound like a genius while throwing players under the bus - rather than, you know, coaching effectively to the team's strengths. So that may give Real Madrid pause, even though Nagelsmann was once a hugely touted name before Bayern Munich threw him to the wolves for Thomas Tuchel a few years back in 2022/23.
