When Xabi Alonso arrived at Real Madrid this summer, he identified the area of the squad that need to be fixed immediately and that is the defense.

It was obvious to many fans in the dying days of Carlo Ancelotti's time in charge that the defense needed a major overhaul and Xabi Alonso is the new man in charge of that overhaul.

At his request, the club has already brought in three new defenders, all of whom are expected to major pieces of his system going forward.

The signings of Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alvaro Carreras are a breath of fresh air to fans who have been calling for these kinds of signings for years.

However, it seems as though the club is not done with its defensive reshaping, as they are actively looking for another new central defender.

There have been many names linked with Real Madrid, but it seems the club have been offered the chance to sign one of Alonso's key players from his time in the Bundesliga.

Real Madrid offered cornerstone from Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen side

As being reported by ESPN Deportes, Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Bayer Leverkusen center-back Piero Hincapie to complete their defensive overhaul under Xabi Alonso.

The Ecuadorian has reportedly been "offered" to Los Blancos, giving Xabi Alonso the option of another young, and versatile defender to work with as the club searches the transfer market for their next central defender.

Xabi Alonso knows Hincapie well from their time together at Bayer Leverkusen. He was a cornerstone piece in the Spaniard's system, playing a pivotal role in the title winning 23/24 season. Hincapie made 127 appearances under Alonso and recently signed a new extension with the German side until 2029.

That extension could prove difficult in his signing as Leverkusen would likely demand quite the hefty fee from Real Madrid. However, if the club were able to secure his signing, it would me a major boost heading into the new season.

Partnering Hincapie with Dean Huijsen and one of Antonio Rudiger or Eder Militao in a back three would surely patch all the leaky holes that were clear at the end of Carlo Ancelotti's tenure.
