Camavinga was one of the names discussed in the club that they would not mind selling this season, but a move never materialised because the player showed no signs of wanting to leave this summer.
However, even if the player had decided to leave this summer, Real Madrid probably would not have been able to sell him at that price anyway.
This is a player who has had two consecutive bad seasons, even if any club would think about the potential Camavinga has or the talent that he has shown in the past, everyone will likely point to the fact that no one has seen that happen consistently for two years.
Camavinga was not consistent before that, either, but the notion always remained the same: he would one day become consistent and improve as a football player. The more he stays in that inconsistent realm, the more his transfer value decreases.

Real Madrid should obviously not go dirt cheap for Camavinga, but anything from around 50 to 60 million euros should be doable for most clubs. The moment that price hits 70 million, it becomes more difficult because now, it is a player who has not performed well in two years, but is suddenly an expensive investment.
Camavinga never wanted to leave in the first place, so these things become null and void anyway, but even in the event that he did end up wanting to leave before the end of the transfer window, listing him for 70 million euros when he is at an all-time low is not the smartest move.
This market is very inflated where players of worse quality go for more expensive fees than Camavinga, but with him, the question was never about the quality. It was about his consistency and his mentality.
Maybe last season, 70 million euros would have been perfect. Now, it seems a little too much. Hopefully him staying turns out to be a blessing in disguise, and the player is able to play at a high level on a consistent basis. But until that happens, this decision would look confusing to all fans.
