Real Madrid have been building a lot for new manager Xabi Alonso this summer.
They have already signed three players, and judging by how big journalists like Fabrizio Romano are reporting about it, they are far from done.
Romano said a few weeks ago that Real Madrid are still very active in the market and are just waiting for the right moment to pounce on a deal that makes sense.
Well, Real Madrid have been in the running for a midfield talent, but this time, the deal did not make much sense.
Romano confirmed earlier on Monday that Real Madrid are not planning to sign Nico Paz this summer despite plenty of rumors linking the two parties for the foreseeable future.
Real Madrid were originally in the running to bring him back, however, it will not happen now, and Paz will stay at Como for one more season.
Real Madrid have enough attacking midfielders now
Real Madrid wanted to sign him earlier, but after signing new midfielder Franco Mastantuono, the club put the brakes just a little bit on Paz.
Romano also confirms this, as he says exactly that in his tweet about the entire transfer window.
Romano has been very vocal about the parties continuing to talk about the future of this talented midfielder, but he insisted nothing was confirmed.
They could have brought Paz back for just eight million euros this summer, but they passed on the opportunity.
Next season, Real Madrid still have a release clause in place, but the amount goes up. It will now be nine million euros in 2026 should the club decide to activate it.
Similarly, it will go up in 2027 too, to 10 million euros.
Real Madrid really do not need Paz anymore. Before signing Mastantuono, it would have made complete sense.
However, if they had signed Paz, there would be a logjam at midfield that the club did not really need, and it is good that Paz's development won't be hindered.
Real Madrid will keep tabs on Paz and if there is a need to bring him back in future seasons, Real Madrid will be there.
