Real Madrid's midfield is the stuff of fairy tales. Too unfortunate, though, fairy tales are frequently bogus. But the magnificence of Los Blancos' midfield is as real as you and I. The middle three at the Santiago Bernabeu do miracles that the rest of the world attempts to emulate, but ends up being a mere spectator.
This is a difficult opinion, but I stand by my assertion that Real Madrid may as well have the best history of midfield ever. It can be quite challenging to compare the amount of legends at the club in these roles to any other club's example.
This state has only been made possible by the Merengues' relentless pursuit of the world's greatest talents. Among the first names that spring to mind are Luka Modric, Jose Pirri, Zinedine Zidane, Toni Kroos, and Fernando Redondo. The list is significantly longer and never-ending. Forgive me; the piece is intended to be brief; else, I would have compiled an excellent list.
Joshua Kimmich might not arrive at Real Madrid
Joshua Kimmich had been on Real Madrid's radar for quite some time. Over the last six months or so, Los Blancos have been vying for the player's services. Despite renewal concerns and discussions that caused a lengthy delay, he was the next major thing Madrid sought from Bayern Munich after the iconic Toni Kroos.
Until last week, renewal discussions with Bayern had stuck, with no persuasive stance established. The procedure was being postponed indefinitely. However, only a day ago, acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano stated something bizarre.
According to the Italian journalist, Joshua Kimmich and Bayern Munich are now ready to sign a contract renewal for the German. As mentioned in his tweet, the player and the club have exchanged all official paperwork, leaving just the sign that closes the deal between the two.
Romano goes on to say that the athlete has never had any official advanced conversations with any club. He was approached by several, but no official communication regarding a prospective move was made. As always, his sole concentration was on renewing his contract with the Bavarian club.
Moving forward, Real Madrid must look beyond the 30-year-old and seek younger options in the market, assuming they require any in the first place. Apart from the injuries, the midfield is already crowded, but a quality addition wouldn't cost much.
