Real Madrid has captured Bernardo Silva from Manchester City, and their midfield already looks more solid.
Jose Mourinho is set to be the next manager of Los Blancos, and they have already signed Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, too. Shoring up the defence appears to be the priority right now.
Los Blancos are also looking to sign Ruben Dias from City. Whilst they have also been linked with Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
With the addition of Silva, it looks like Real Madrid's midfield for next season is ready. Silva should slot in alongside Aurélien Tchouaméni, with Jude Bellingham playing in a more advanced role.
How could a midfield three look for Real Madrid next season?
Aurélien Tchouaméni (CDM) Bernardo Silva (CDM)
Jude Bellingham (CAM)
Tchouaméni would be the more disciplined of the defensive midfielders. The Frenchman would be the one protecting the back four, which is a very important role in a Mourinho system. Much of Mourinho's success has been built on a team being solid defensively.
Some say that Mourinho is too defensive for modern soccer. In the last few seasons, he has not managed in Europe's top five leagues with Fenerbahce and Benfica. However, there is a trend that the sport is returning to how it was in the early 2000s. Arsenal have just won the Premier League with a side that is solid defensively and reliant on set-pieces.
It was a surprise to many that Real Madrid appointed Mourinho. However, his style of play could be crucial in ensuring that Los Blancos do not go another season without winning any silverware.
Silva is more of a ball player who will be able to control Real Madrid's midfield. They will have Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo on either wing, and of course, Kylian Mbappe up front.
Jude Bellingham will be the first-choice attacking midfielder, and Ardu Guler will also be able to do a job there. Silva himself can also be an option to play behind Mbappe. The incoming Real Madrid player can also be an option on the right wing to play instead of Rodrygo. Silva's versatility and experience should make him a very good option for Mourinho next season.
It remains to be seen if Real Madrid will strengthen their midfield further in the summer transfer window. They have been linked with Rodri of City too, as he is the best defensive midfielder in the world; he would likely take Tchouaméni's place. Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea is also reportedly an option for Los Blancos, signing him could be a threat to Silva's position in the team.
