Real Madrid really like Cesc Fabregas and Mikel Arteta, and they value them really highly and are tracking their progress at their respective clubs, according to a report from Jorge Picon.
Cesc Fabregas is doing an unbelievable job at Como. He has got them to the Champions League this season after a very, very strong second season in Serie A for the team. Nico Paz is doing really well as the cornerstone for his side, and it is all working out perfectly for the team. They look to be even better this season than they were last season, and if you look at the talent that they have and the players that they've brought in, it looks like they can actually push for a title charge this season.
Real Madrid really like him, along with Arteta, and they keep following his work the most, along with his fellow Spaniard. This begs another question. This has not got anything to do with the quality that Fabregas has as a manager. He's one of the best young managers in world football, and he's already shown how well he can operate if he's given the licence to be himself.
Xabi Alonso was in a similar position to how Cesc Fabregas is perceived these days
These are the exact same things that Xabi Alonso was touted as when he was at Bayer Leverkusen, because he achieved a lot with that team, similar to what Fabregas is doing at Como. He was brought in at Real Madrid, and within a few months he was sacked. That is the problem, because everyone knows Alonso is still a great manager. His sacking didn't have too much to do with his management skills, but had more to do with the power that he had.
After that happened, I just cannot see the club giving power to another young manager like Alonso. In this case, that would be Fabregas. And if he is brought in at some point in the future, after Jose Mourinho's time at the club is done, who is to say that this managerial reign will not go down the same route as Alonso's?
Both of them are really young managers who are two of the best in the world. Both of them play a very expansive style of football, and both of their teams were some of the best pressing teams in the world.
If you bring in another young manager with the hopes of having a project and a style of play and bringing the excitement back to the Bernabeu, then you have to give him the luxury of having a bad season here and there and a bad few months. You need to give him the luxury of being able to take big decisions at the club when it comes to big players, if there was any problem.
This is not to say any problem will arise with Fabregas in the way it did with Alonso, but if it does happen, the manager should always have that power, and that does not happen at Real Madrid. Just like the Alonso project, Fabregas's potential project could also fail. He might do things differently, and he might be even more accomplished by the time Real Madrid are done with Mourinho.
But whatever happened with Alonso could still happen with Fabregas, and that is what every single young manager in the world will be thinking about the next time they're offered a job at a club like Real Madrid. If they want things to be different, they need to be different through the manager that they bring in. Otherwise, these things will just not work the way Real Madrid want them to.
