Real Madrid have been looking at selling players as of late. We have seen rumors about quite a few players who never actually got to leave the club.
They are still trying, but for now, these sales have been largely limited to Castilla players leaving for greener pastures. No first-teamer has been sold or even loaned so far.
That was about to change, according to Arancha Rodriguez of COPE, until it did not.
Real Madrid were about to loan striker Endrick to Real Sociedad for the season, but the move has fallen apart in the last minutes, and the player will now stay at the club.
Endrick could have benefitted from a move to another club
This was particularly shocking for Endrick, as even though there weren't that many reports about him wanting to leave the club, there were a few involving doubts around his spot in the first team.
I guess that has now been put to rest.
Real Madrid have an overbundance of attackers at the moment. There are seven players - Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, Endrick, Gonzalo Garcia, and possibly Franco Mastantuono, if you want to include him. Those are seven players for two, sometimes three positions. That is simply too much.
Real Madrid need to sell someone from that cluster of forwards - or at least, loan someone. Garcia's floor has been brilliant in the Xabi Alonso era, which does not really make it right for him to go as he offers something that the rest of the team can't.
Endrick is ridiculously talented, but his floor is very low. Rodrygo may leave, but he may not. There are a number of question marks surrounding the club, and even though Endrick's going to stay at the club, it does not particularly say that he will play a lot of minutes.
Endrick could have also benefitted from a good loan spell at a club like Real Sociedad, where talents come of age very quickly.
However, now he is staying, and the minutes will have to be divided among the seven mentioned above, so Endrick will have to give more than his all to the club for him to be able to convince Alonso for the future.
The talent is there. Endrick just needs to harness it and improve the rough-around-the-edges side of his game. That's all.
