The perennial overreactions at Real Madrid that claim great coaches and players are starting to become even more detrimental in this second reign of Florentino Perez, who just ran through Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso in the same calendar year of 2025.
And now, after an expected elimination at the hands of a far superior Bayern Munich squad, Real Madrid are prepared to can a coach who was rapidly becoming nearly as popular among the superstar players as Ancelotti was.
According to a new report from MARCA's Pablo Polo, Real Madrid have made their decision on Alvaro Arbeloa. Unless he can save himself with a miracle to close the season of a campaign that is 99.999 percent going to end trophyless, the former Madrid right back will be leaving this summer. Real reportedly feel that Arbeloa has not improved the team since taking over for Alonso.
Real Madrid are now clueless
It is an outrageous stance from a club that has no accountability for its own horrible decisions on the transfer market and woeful squad planning that Carletto papered over with all time coaching jobs that Florentino Perez, as with Zinedine Zidane before him, simply did not respect.
Now, the likes of Alonso and Arbeloa are being hung out to dry by both an inadequate board room and a group of malcontent superstars who seem to be more focused on their own stats than actually winning football games, particularly the pet project Florentino brought in that has destabilized this entire team in Kylian Mbappe.
That Real Madrid are measuring Alvaro Arbeloa as a manager based on turning things around under Alonso is laughable, because Alonso's issues were not anything on him, but rather an indictment of the players at the club who refused to buy in to any ideas. Arbeloa then came in and had to smooth things over with the stars at the behest of the club, and now Real Madrid have the gall to say he did not improve things when he very much did improve the morale in the dressing room just as he was asked.
And more to the point, Arbeloa was never going to fix the issues in the squad in the middle of the season. That was never the job, but it is clear that Real Madrid are an incompetent organization right now. They are at risk of entering a banter era similar to Barcelona's a few years ago, where egos and bloated contracts run amok whlle the president has no accountability to the public for his failings. Real are in a dark period, and Arbeloa is just the latest talented coach to get thrown under the bus for the next overrated big name that inevitability fails.
