Once the 25/26 season came to it's disappointing end, Real Madrid had one goal in mind, completely rebuild the squad and go for glory in the 26.27 season. And so far that's what the club have done in the transfer market, four new arrivals have already been announced and Real aren't done there as they are still working on more deals for players like Rodri and Yan Diomande and according to reports they also have their eyes on one more addition to Jose Mourinho's squad.

As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Real Madrid are considering signing a pure striker this summer, with the club believing it is the one area in the attacking line that is lacking the most. Real Madrid believe a natural target man style striker will be the last piece to the puzzle to get to winning ways with the club keeping tabs on a number of different options as the start of the season rapidly approaches.

If Real Madrid want a striker, why sell Gonzalo?

For more than a decade Real Madrid's striker position was in safe hand with Karim Benzema however following the Frenchmans departure before the 23/24 season the club hasn't played with that natural target man in the box. Joselu was a great squad player during the 23/24 campaign but the club decided not to buy him on a permanent and for the last two seasons have used Kylian Mbappe as a defacto striker. But the Frenchman isn't a natural striker which effects both him and the team and if Real hope to get back to the top, they need to put Mbappe back at his natural wing position and bring in a proper striker.

Who exactly the club will bring in if they actually do bring in a striker this summer remains unknown but over the years they've been linked with pretty much every name you can imagine. Carlo Ancelotti wanted players like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland but let's be honest neither of those are going to happen. Real sent an offer last month to Atletico for Julian Alvarez that got shut down immediately so he seemingly won't ever be joining so what names are really left?

Other big names include the likes of Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen but when the club would be able to afford a move for him should moves for Rodri and Diomande be completed remains unknown. Recent reports suggest the club are looking at Levante striker Carlos Espi which would seemingly be more of a depth signing more than a signing to bring him straight into the starting lineup.

The question still remains thought, why then would Real Madrid sell Gonzalo Garcia if they are looking for a pure striker for the squad? Gonzalo is exactly that almost like a young version of Raul from back in the day but he is reportedly off to Fulham so the decision to sell him while actively looking for a stiker is somewhat of a head scratching move.
