Real Madrid should bring back Jacobo Ramon at any cost in the summer transfer window. The club signed a centre-back in Ibrahima Konate earlier in the summer, but there was always an inkling among Real Madrid fans that their depth was lacking at least one more player. Looking at Antonio Rudiger's decline in recent years, as well as Eder Militao’s problematically dodgy injury record, Real Madrid should have signed at least one more centre-back to make sure they were covered for the season.
There's also the case of Raul Asencio, who just has not been reliable enough in these last few months and is going to be out till December, at the very least, which is why another centre-back would have definitely helped things. Be that as it may, Real Madrid would have to sign a new centre-back next season at any cost, especially if Rudiger ends up leaving the club at the end of the season.
Antonio Rudiger isn't consistently good enough, and Jacobo Ramon is getting better after every match
The German central defender has had some good moments here and there, particularly in the match against Malaga, where he was pretty good, but it is not confirmed whether he can do it on a consistent basis anymore.
Even last season, when he was asked to play long minutes for Real Madrid, he wasn't up to the task because his body is declining naturally. That is exactly why Real Madrid need to sign a new centre-back, and the most ideal option is staring them right in the face.
Ramon is one of the most sought-after centre-backs in world football, and he has developed tremendously since he left Real Madrid more than a year ago. He has been playing nearly every single game for Como since the start of last season, and he just looks like a completely different player now compared to how he was when he first joined.
He has worked on his skills on the ball, as well as using his physicality to his advantage, which has given him so much confidence and the ability to lead the defensive line.
Real Madrid were linked with so many different centre-backs over the summer, from Alessandro Bastoni to Nico Schlotterbeck, but the most viable and cheapest option for them to sign next season will be Ramon.
He would cost Real Madrid only €9 million and would easily be their best value signing, because he is worth so much more than that. Ramon is a brilliant talent who is consistently getting better as we speak. Pairing him next to Dean Huijsen, or even Konate, would help them form a really good centre-back partnership that could help Real Madrid for the foreseeable future.
