Real Madrid have are one signing away from essentially bringing in an entire back four for new manager Jose Mourinho. Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, and Marc Cucurella are not guaranteed starters, but they all have strong chances of competing for spots, with Cucurella the most likely of the trio to step right in to Mourinho's best XI.
The last signing remaining, therefore, would be another center back. Josko Gvardiol is off the table, and while his more experienced Manchester City teammate and compatriot Ruben Dias appears to be Mou's top center back of choice, many fans are dreaming of another poach from Inter Milan in the left footed Alessandro Bastoni.
Truly the best passing center back in the world, Bastoni registers progressive dribbles and passes, as well as key passes, to the level exceeding midfielders, including some of the midfield players who were at Real Madrid last season.
Inter Milan have another for Real Madrid
While you would think that Bastoni, one of the pillars of the Serie A champions, would be onerously expensive, as it turns out, the Italian international is actually priced reasonably. Because according to a report from Diario AS, via the Madrid Zone, Inter Milan are looking for 70 million euros in order to sell Alessandro Bastoni.
Given he is one of the Nerazzurri's top three players and a key to the fabric of the team, particularly defensively, that is a very surprising stance. Most clubs would try to demand 100 million euros or more initially for a great leader and relatively young center back who is among the elite in football with a rare skill set - and that left foot of his.
Real Madrid should be all over Bastoni at 70 million euros. He would be an obvious signing for them in that left center back position and would immediately start, with Eder Militao then remaining the starting right center back when fully healthy. And that duo would be 10 times better, at least, than the center back pairings Real Madrid were frequently having to put out there in the 2025/26 and 2024/25 seasons.
Of course, a lot hinges on Militao's health in that duo, but then that's why Real Madrid brought in Ibrahima Konate, kept Antonio Rudiger, and have Dean Huijsen off the bench. The depth is there, they just need one more top starter, and if Jose Mourinho is indeed in love with Bastoni, as Diario AS reports, then this is a deal that could happen.
