Real Madrid fans could see Ferland Mendy leave Real Madrid a lot sooner than anyone expected, but a lot later than anyone wanted.
Mendy has been one of the most injury-prone players at Real Madrid in quite some time, and even though he was an unreal left-back around four years ago, things just have not been the same for the player since.
Be that as it may, according to a report from Alberto Pereiro, it may finally happen.
It's not a done deal, there are no other reports linking him to any other club, and it might not even happen, but there is a chance that Mendy leaves the club earlier than expected.
Fans expected him to leave when his contract expired, but if he leaves during the summer, it would actually help Real Madrid quite a bit.

Mendy, as of late, has struggled a lot with injuries, which forced Real Madrid to sign initially Álvaro Carreras, and then Marc Cucurella. Los Blancos have not seen a consistent run of games from the French full-back in quite some time, and now he is taking up a place in the squad that could go to literally any new signing that Real Madrid make.
Real Madrid's squad is currently full if you count Yan Diomande as a Real Madrid player already, meaning someone would have to leave for Rodri to join whenever the deal with Manchester City is done.
There is also a possibility that has not been reported by any reliable journalists as of late, and that is Real Madrid doing to Ferland Mendy what they did with Dani Ceballos earlier in the summer, and Eden Hazard a few years ago.
Real Madrid are the wealthiest club in the world. Surely they have enough money to terminate the player's contract, and free up a space for Rodri or anyone else to come in.
That is something that the club would have to do if they had no other choice. Mendy provides no value to this squad anymore. His best trait, which was being a lockdown defender at his peak, has already been replaced by Marc Cucurella, who was signed earlier in the summer.
If Real Madrid could terminate Eden Hazard's contract by mutual agreement, which was far bigger than whatever Mendy's contract will be, they can do the same with the Frenchman.
Obviously, they would want to sell him rather than doing that, but hopefully the thought of using that as a last resort has at least entered Real Madrid's mind.
