Bellingham is one of the best players in the world, and renewing him is the most obvious thing that the club can do from now until it is done.
He's a cornerstone of this team and has shown in the past that he is the most consistent great, great player that Real Madrid have.
Yes, Kylian Mbappe scores so many goals, and Vinicius Junior has outrageous moments here and there, but from a consistency standpoint, Jude Bellingham always produces the goods for his team, even when he's not scoring or assisting. His contribution to the team can be felt by every single fan who is watching.
However, the only catch is that now Real Madrid have to pay him a similar salary to what they are paying Vinicius Junior.
Vinicius Junior's contract would make other players want more money than they would've expected
As everyone knows, Vinicius Junior was in talks with Real Madrid to renew his contract for a very long time. Neither party was giving the other any flexibility in terms of where they stood until towards the very end of the transfer window, when Real Madrid decided to accept Vinicius Junior's demands and pay him a very high salary.
Now, according to the reporter, Real Madrid are also going to pay Bellingham a very similar amount of money to what they paid the Brazilian. This is not about whether Bellingham deserves to have that money or not.
The thing is that Real Madrid have created a problem for themselves where, because they were forced to give Vinicius Junior more money than they wanted to, they are also now forced to give Bellingham the same amount of money. If there was a choice between paying a huge amount of money to one of these players, my choice would be Bellingham.
But Real Madrid are now going to have to pay both of them, which could create a hierarchy problem in the future. In future contract negotiations, a player can refer to Vinicius Junior's contract as the point where everything changed. If Bellingham is on the same contract as Vinicius Junior, that would mean players like Fede Valverde and Rodrygo, whoever it is in the future, could want a higher salary because these two are also getting a higher salary than what they were expecting.
Obviously, they wouldn't want the same amount of salary as these two because everyone knows that Real Madrid will pay a certain amount of money to a certain kind of player, but they could then demand more money than what Real Madrid would have wanted to pay them before extending Vinicius Junior's contract. This is a problem that could occur in the future. It might not, but it is something that Florentino Perez will have to think about.
And if Vinicius Junior does not perform as well as he is expected to in these next few years, then Real Madrid will look really stupid for giving him the contract, both from a financial sense but also from a team hierarchy sense.
