Real Madrid came from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund but it came at a cost. Now, a star player could miss El Clasico this weekend through injury.

Real Madrid handed Borussia Dortmund their first loss in the UEFA Champions League since... Real Madrid.

In a repeat of the 2024 final, Real Madrid saw themselves two goals behind. However, a lifeline by Antonio Rudiger was then capped off by Vinicius Junior. The Brazil international scored a hat-trick, securing his status as the Ballon d'Or winner.

However, despite Real Madrid's comeback, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for them. In fact, Carlo Ancelotti now has a fresh injury concern to deal with. It doesn't look promising for El Clasico this weekend.

According to a report by Diario AS, Rodrygo Goes could be ruled out of El Clasico this weekend. The Brazil international suffered an injury in his thigh and now the Spanish outlet thinks that he could miss El Clasico.

Carlo Ancelotti commented on Rodrygo Goes' substitution, confirming it was a muscle injury. The Italian coach is yet to rule him out of action for the Barcelona match.

In his own words, Ancelotti said: “Muscle injury. He made a spectacular run for the third goal… It’s a shame, but it is what it is."

While Ancelotti hasn't commented on Rodrygo's status for El Clasico, AS has read between the lines and predicted that he could miss the fixture.

In their own words (translated from Spanish to English), AS said: "Rodrygo left the pitch in the 85th minute of Real Madrid's comeback against Borussia Dortmund and could miss the derby against Barcelona next Saturday."

Rodrygo has opened his account this season well. He has three goals and two assists across all competitions. This tally is despite starting just eight games in all competitions.

So, even with his squad role reduced from last season, Rodrygo is still providing the end-product to Real Madrid. Heading into the campaign, many thought he'd be the one to sit out with Kylian Mbappe arriving. However, he is making an interesting case on the contrary.

Last season, Rodrygo scored one goal and provided one assist in El Clasico. He has good experience in the historic fixture. As a high-achiever who wants his name up in lights, he will feel hard-done-by should he not feature against Barcelona.
