Vinicius Jr not winning the Ballon d'Or has become a topic of heavy discussion over the last couple of days. The Real Madrid winger was the favourite to win the award leading up to the event but it was Rodri who ended up lifting football's most celebrated individual prize. Of course, that has not gone down well among many at the Spanish club as well as the fans.

Vinicius had a great individual season. So, did Rodri, winning the Premier League with Manchester City and the EUROs with Spain.

There are a few factors that might have led to Rodri winning over Vinicius though. One might have been the fact that Dani Carvajal and Jude Bellingham were contenders as well, which led to the votes being distributed instead of the Brazilian being the outright number one.

As reported by AS, everything that has happened could have consequences for the future of Vinicus at Real Madrid. Firstly, the feeling of helplessness he has when he plays in La Liga. But also, he saw how Bellingham took all the spotlight from him in the first part of the season and since then, the club has signed Mbappe, another superstar. So, the Brazilian will have a very difficult time again competing for the Ballon d'Or, with so much competition.

This comes at a time when there is believed to be interest in Vinicius from the Saudi Pro League. One has to wonder, what the future holds for him at Real Madrid.

If Vinicius were to become available for transfer, one would expect top Premier League clubs to try and sign him. Also, let's not overlook the situation he constantly faces in Spain.

It goes without saying that Real Madrid are a better team with Vinicius in it. So, let's hope he stays at Santiago Bernabeu.
