Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on an Arsenal star who could consider leaving the Premier League club. A new full-back could be on the agenda for Los Blancos and Myles Lewis-Skelly has caught their eye.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Madrid are "closely monitoring" Lewis-Skelly and there's a chance he will explore a possible move for more opportunities. Mikel Arteta has preferred Riccardo Calafiori at left-back this season.

Lewis-Skelly has started just one of 14 Premier League games having been a key man in the season prior. He impressed in the Gunners' Champions League quarter-final victory over Los Blancos.

Real Madrid like Arsenal's Lewis-Skelly

The report claims that Arsenal have yet to make a final decision over Lewis-Skelly's future and he has just over four years on his contract. The 19-year-old's lack of game time has put him at risk of missing this summer's World Cup with England.

Lewis-Skelly is expected to become a superstar and many assumed he'd be a regular starter for Arteta this season. He came off a stunning 2024-25 campaign and his exploits earned huge praise from Manchester United legend Gary Neville (via Metro):

"That’s been a massive problem position for Arsenal. And he’s gone in and looked like it’s his and he’s always been there. That’s been a massive problem position for Arsenal,’ said Neville. ‘And he’s gone in and looked like it’s his and he’s always been there."

He added:

"The ability to take the ball in the biggest games in tight situations. It’s incredible what he’s doing."

Lewis-Skelly has appeared 26 times across competitions this season, posting four assists. He is a product of Arsenal's youth academy and one of English football's most exciting prospects.

Mendy might have to prove his worth

With Lewis-Skelly on Madrid's radar it puts Ferland Mendy under pressure to finish the season strongly. The French full-back recently returned from injury and was superb in a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo last weekend.

Mendy is set to keep his place in Alvaro Arbeloa's team due to Alvaro Carreras' injury. The 29-year-old has endured an injury-ridden spell with Los Blancos but when fit and available he's been excellent.

There is a chance that Madrid swoop for the young Englishman even if Mendy is to continue at the Santiago Bernabeu. Fran Garcia reportedly still wants to leave after a loan move to Bournemouth was cancelled by the club in January.
