There is no player in world football who plays the game with as much pride and as much of a desire to win as Jude Bellingham, who put himself in the same breath as the two biggest legends of the game, Pele and Diego Armand Maradona, by scoring back to back braces for England in the 2026 World Cup knockout stages to spearhead wins over Mexico and Norway.
Real Madrid fans are not surprised, of course, as the true Madridistas who remember all the clutch goals and moments from Jude's first season in the 2023/24 campaign when Real won the Champions League and La Liga can attest to his clutch ability.
After hearing so many silly remarks about Bellingham, including certain journalists staying England should leave arguably their best player at home for the World Cup, the fans of the Three Lions are finally getting some actual common sense on Bellingham from the media.
Jude Bellingham might be GOATed
The latest to bang the table hard for Jude Bellingham is Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who, possibly thanks to his close friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo, is one of the few who actually respects Real Madrid as a club and has been saying the right things about Jude.
There is a sentiment brewing that previously only Real Madrid supporters were touting, and that is the fact that Jude is on a trajectory to become one of the greatest England players of all time when you look at what he is accomplishing already.
And Rio is very much on board. He said of the former Bundesliga ace on his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, “Jude Bellingham is the best England player in tournament football since 1966. I say it with my chest.”
1996 is, of course, the last time England brought the World Cup home, so to speak, and whlie that comes with loaded verbiage for anyone outside England, it is a sentiment on Jude that Real Madrid supporters will wholeheartedly endorse, and they will appreciate Rio saying it with his full chest.
Only Kylian Mbappe and Pele, literal strikers who started playing at World Cups as teenagers, have scord more goals at the tournament by the age of 23 than Bellingham. And Jude is on six World Cup goals this tournament despite being a midfielder who has saved goals and progressed play better than anyone else in his position. He is indeed on track to being an all time great, and he is ready to become England's all time top scorer at World Cups after Harry Kane...as a midfielder.
