Jude Bellingham's stock is at an all time high, and all the criticisms of him before the World Cup tournament about how he should not start or should not even be in the squad look even more ridiculous now than they did then. The Champions League and La Liga winner with Real Madrid very nearly led England to a European Championship victory in 2024, and now he is one step away from a World Cup Final after netting a historic back to back braces against Mexico and now Norway.

While Jude made headlines on the pitch with his incredible performance, he may have ruffled feathers in the English media again. Because England manager Thomas Tuchel criticized the performance of his team after the game for being too sloppy, while Jude fired back at him for being too critical and that England played great, twisting the knife by saying that Tuchel maybe does not understand what it is like to face a great opponent like Norway and suffer against the likes of Julian Ryerson, Martin Odegaard, Alexander Sorloth, and, of course, Erling Braut Haaland.

Instead of being upset with Jude or needling division between the England national team, former Manchester United icons Gary Neville and Roy Keane actually expressed full agreement with Jude and liked that he showed that bit of moxie towards Tuchel after the match.

Roy Keane has fallen head over heels for Jude

Keane quipped on The Overlap podcast, “At the end, he was edgy again, and I liked it,” to which Neville said, “Me too, I liked it.”

And Keane also said more, via the Madrid Zone, “It’s amazing everything around Jude Bellingham, and we’re seeing him as a player and as a character. He’s doing plenty of interviews, turning up with the big goals, his interviews come across great, he does the business again today, and he’s a bit spiky after that. I love it."

He added, At the end of the game Jude Bellingham goes ‘whatever’ (in the interview), and you’re going ‘oh there’s still that’, there’s an edge to the kid, which you need. The edge is the most important part.”

Roy Keane, in particular, has been loving Jude Bellingham's play on the pitch and his attitude, and that is massive for two reasons. Firstly, Keane is usually one of the grouchiest ex players in the media, so if he is liking something, then it is something exceptional. And secondly, the criticisms of Jude before the World Cup were all about his attitude, so if the media narrative is changing to embracing his candor, then England are well on their way to staying united.
